Ottawa’s Linda Jamieson School of Dance offers a comprehensive range of dance training for students of every level, from beginners through preprofessionals. To complement the expertise of its in-house faculty, Linda Jamieson School of Dance hosts workshops led by top dance professionals, such as jazz and contemporary specialist Derrick Yanford. Derrick Yanford has starred in Footloose, Evita” and other top productions.
At the age of 12, Derrick Yanford began his formal dance training by studying ballet, jazz, tap, and acrobatics in Southwick, Massachusetts. Three years later, he achieved his first professional job. From that point forward, he knew that dance was going to be a major focus of his life. He continued his training at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and performed with several professional companies, including Ballet Hispanico of New York, The Joffrey Concert Dancers, and Northern Connecticut Ballet.
A renowned performer and choreographer, Derrick Yanford is on the faculty of Connecticut College. He teachers master classes and provides freelance choreography to premier dance organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
