Located in Ontario, Canada, the Linda Jamieson School of Dance delivers instruction through a teaching approach that emphasizes integrity, professionalism, and technical excellence. The Linda Jamieson School of Dance offers the Phil Lawless Scholarship to worthy students.
School director Linda Jamieson and master teacher Ellen Andrews administer the scholarship, which is awarded in honor of artist Phil Lawless. A longtime friend of the school, Mr. Lawless designed and built sets for several of the institution’s productions, notably the Nutcracker, Coppelia, and Giselle. The Phil Lawless Scholarship is intended for students with the artistic and technical talent required to pursue a career in the field of contemporary dance and ballet. Additionally, students must possess the character traits essential for success, which include dedication and a strong work ethic.
Students who receive the award are granted free coaching, training, and choreography to prepare them for the Youth America Grand Prix, an international ballet competition and scholarship audition program. Ms. Jamieson and Ms. Andrews award the scholarship to multiple students on an annual basis.
